Acceptable Use Policy

Hubstake indexes documents that are already public. What is not public is the work of finding, reading, reconciling and organising them. This policy draws that line.

What you may do

Hubstake is built to be used. Within the limits below you may:

  • Search the index and read any item page.
  • Use a price you find here in an estimate, a bid, a budget, a claim or an expert report, and cite Hubstake as where you found it.
  • Follow every receipt link to the agency document and use that document however the publishing agency permits — those documents are theirs, not ours.
  • Export the observation table for an item on a plan that includes export, and keep or share that file inside your own organisation.
  • Quote a figure, a range or a chart in a report, a presentation or an article, with attribution.

What you may not do

The index — the canonical items, the groupings, the medians and ranges, and the mapping from each row to its source document — is the product. You may not:

  • Systematically download, crawl, scrape or otherwise copy the index, in whole or in substantial part, by any automated means.
  • Walk the search endpoint by offset, item slug or any other enumeration in order to reconstruct the index locally.
  • Republish, resell, sublicense or redistribute the index, or build a competing price database from it.
  • Share account credentials, or use one account to serve a wider group of people than the plan provides seats for.
  • Circumvent, disable or interfere with rate limits, the account gate, or any other access control — including by rotating addresses or accounts.
  • Remove or obscure attribution or watermarking from anything exported.
  • Use the Service to break the law, infringe a third party’s rights, or send unsolicited commercial messages.

The underlying public documents are public. Our arrangement of them is not, and the distinction is the whole business.

Automated access

There is no public API and no bulk endpoint. The internal JSON endpoints that the site’s own pages call are rate limited per client and are not a supported interface: they may change or disappear without notice, and using them from anything other than a browser reading the site is outside this policy.

If you want a feed, a bulk extract or an integration, that is a conversation we are glad to have. Write to [email protected] and describe what you need.

How this is enforced

Automated access that looks like enumeration is rate limited and may be blocked without warning. Accounts used to do it may be suspended. We would rather talk first, and for anything that looks like a research or integration need we usually will — but the index is not left open to be taken.

If you believe something you were doing was blocked in error, write to [email protected] and say what you were trying to do.

Reporting misuse or errors

If you find a price that looks wrong, an item that has been grouped badly, or a receipt link that does not open the document it claims to, please tell us: every observation carries a link to its source, so a correction is quick to verify. Use the contact page and pick “Correction”.
